Mysterious Little Girl Found In Glass Coffin Finally Identified.

The mystery of the small girl nicknamed "Miranda Eve," found strangely well preserved inside an expensive glass and metal coffin buried beneath a home on San Francisco last spring and believed to have been there about 150 years, has finally been solved.

After a full year of digging by amateur investigators and other researchers, a young girl buried in a family plot there, and these were finally matched up via DNA from a direct descendent living in the Bay Area.

The girl, we now know was Edith Howard Cook, who died on October 13, 1876, just shy of her third birthday. The cause was severe undernourishment and infectious disease.

Inside they found a little girl with long blonde hair, wearing a long white lace dress. She had a cross made of flowers on her chest

Elissa Davey, a genealogist and founder of the Garden of Innocence Project, reburied the little girl in Colma last year. Davey says she was also determined to discover the real story of the girl, including the date of her death.
